Updates from the Experts, with professor Kathryn B. Reid, PhD, RN, FNP-C

The world is on the move again as international travel now exceeds the pre-pandemic levels. Associate professor Kathryn B. Reid, PhD, RN, FNP-C, who will spotlight the specialty practice of travel health nursing, is a travel health nurse consultant who has spoken both regionally and nationally on the topic, and serves on the American Travel Health Nurses Association Board of Directors and is the current president of this 4,000+ member professional organization. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the core components of a pre-travel health consultation.
  • Use current resources to assess travel-related health risks.
  • Provide itinerary-specific health education and promotion information to travelers.
  • Examine travel health nursing as a rewarding specialty nursing practice.
  • Discuss current travel-related health issues.

Through participation in the Updates from the Experts series, clinicians will increase knowledge of available research evidence to optimize patient outcomes, describe strategies for translating current evidence to practice settings, and identify gaps in the current clinical knowledge base that, through new research, could be addressed to improve population health.
