Updates from the Experts with Sharon Bragg, DNP, RN, CCRN, CNL

Sharon Bragg, DNP, RN, CCRN, CNL  will discuss the concept of pivoting in healthcare, with a focus on responding to changing clinical situations. She'll discuss the alignment between clinical judgement and the ability to pivot, emphasizing how decision-making supports safe patient care. She'll also discuss strategies to assist nursing students and practicing nurses to develop skills and confidence to pivot in healthcare.

At the conclusion of this session, participants will:

  • Discuss what it means to pivot.
  • Discuss the alignment of clinical judgement and pivoting in healthcare.
  • Share strategies to pivot for nursing students and nurses.

Leadership in clinical practice, research and scholarship is critical to ongoing practice excellence, promotion of improved outcomes for patients, families, and communities, and the expansion of knowledge in health and health care delivery. The UVA School of Nursing Updates from the Experts Series supports the development of the community of students, clinicians, scholars, and alumni by focusing on examples of practice excellence, leadership, and the latest research findings.

 Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Integrate new research and evidence-based approaches into professional practice to optimize healthcare delivery, professional satisfaction, and patient outcomes.
  • Describe strategies for translating current evidence to practice settings.
  • Identify gaps in the current knowledge base that, through new research, could be addressed to improve population health.
