This one-hour virtual seminar brings together faculty from five leading schools of nursing — George Washington University, Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Maryland, and the University of Virginia — to explore how LinkedIn can be used as a powerful platform for academic influence in scholarship, advocacy, and professional visibility. Participants will learn strategies for crafting impactful posts, balancing transparency with professionalism when sharing research, and navigating the influence of today’s political and cultural climate on scholarly communication. Through faculty examples and practical guidance, attendees will gain actionable insights into content selection, posting cadence, and engagement techniques that amplify nursing’s voice in academic and public spaces.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe the importance of LinkedIn for professional visibility, research dissemination, and advocacy in nursing.
- Explain how political and cultural contexts may influence decisions about presenting scholarly work online.
- Differentiate among LinkedIn post formats and select appropriate approaches for sharing research and professional commentary.

Participants will:
- List at least two benefits of using LinkedIn for professional visibility
- Describe one way political climate can shape online scholarly communication
- Classify example posts into the correct type categories
- Draft a posting plan aligned with their professional objectives
