Pharmacology Updates for APPs with Alana N. Harrison, MSN, APRN, PNP-BC, UVA Health Pediatric Neurology
The pharmacologic management of headaches in children and adolescents differs from that of adults for several reasons. Unique and changing physiology, authorization hurdles, and the placebo effect all need to be considered. This talk will offer insights into best clinical practice using up-to-date research and guidelines to develop individualized care plans that are effective and timely.
At the conclusion of this session, learners will be able to:
- Develop and justify individualized and evidence-based pharmacologic treatment plans including appropriate agent selection, dosing, and titration with strategies to minimize and address adverse effects and interactions.
- Judge clinical effectiveness of treatment plans including when to escalate, change, and discontinue pharmacologic treatment.
