Hehman, chief nurse scientist at Nursing Science Partners, associate editor of Nursing History Review, and a fellow nurse historian, and Keeling, past director of the Bjoring Center for Nursing Historical Inquiry and a professor emerita at UVA School of Nursing, are coauthors of the new book, The Nurses of Ellis Island: Life and Work Inside the Golden Door (Texas Christian University Press: 2024), which tells the story of the history of nursing in Ellis Island hospitals from 1892 to 1954.
On this live Zoom forum, the authors will provide a “behind the scenes” discussion on the research and writing process as well as an overview of nursing on Ellis Island.
